August 7, 2009

Evansville, IN – Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock will speak in Evansville on Monday, August 17 at a meeting of the local group Women ROC – Right of Center. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Oaklyn Branch Library, 3001 Oaklyn Drive, just off of Oak Hill Road.

Mourdock will address current events in Indiana and discuss the sale of Chrysler LLC to Italian carmaker Fiat. He also will encourage the community to get involved on a state level with such issues as the 5th Amendment, which prohibits the “taking” of private property by government, and the longstanding issue of secured creditor’s rights.

The free event will be a public information meeting and everyone is invited to attend: members, non-members, men and women.

“Women ROC is proud to host Mr. Mourdock as part of its effort to provide citizens with more information and access to their government,” says founder and president Holli Sullivan. “We anticipate a big turnout and are excited about that because we know Mr. Mourdock will be sharing some very important and interesting information.”

Evansville,  IN – The local women’s group known as “Moms ROC – Right of Center” – founded to create a collective voice for the principles it believes in – is changing its name to “Women ROC – Right of Center.”

“The name change is to correct the impression that the group is meant only for moms,” states founder and president Holli Sullivan. “Our intent was not to exclude anyone. All women in Evansville, Vanderburgh County and the surrounding area are welcome and encouraged to become a part of Women ROC.”

The purpose of Women Roc is to build a group of women who together gather information that will help them make decisions concerning politics, community involvement, and self-betterment. The group’s goal is to affect public policy in accordance to its top-ranking principles which include God, family, community and country.

“We are going to be the easy, safe, readily available conduit between women in the Evansville area and local, state and federal government,” Sullivan notes. “We know that growing knowledge creates a growing involvement.”

The next Women ROC meeting will be held on Monday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Oaklyn Branch Library on Oak Hill Road. State Treasurer Richard Murdock will be guest speaker at the meeting. This will be a public information event, and everyone is invited to attend, including men.
